Trust – Its probably the biggest factor. You hired a team for a purpose. You hired them after evaluating their skillsets, so you should trust them and they should trust their instincts and both entities should have self-belief. Convey the team that you trust.
Do not micro-manage – While monitoring and measuring success is extremely important, gatekeeping and time watch isn’t the best practise. Guide them but let them do it the way they would want to do. Intervene only when it’s necessary.
Focus – The art of taking things to next level. This is extremely important especially when the team is running multiple programs and have specific deliverables. Its easy to get distracted. You job is to keep them stay focussed on the overall objectives and their specific KRAs.
Simplify things – Break tasks into smaller achievable objectives. Redefine complex tasks and communicate to the team in low-IQ terms just to ensure there are no gaps. Difference of opinion and communication gaps need to be minimized for the success.
Reward and recognize – You got to ensure your team’s efforts are recognized and rewarded. Theres no bigger motivating factor than this.
